Last week, Herbert, Michelle, Liza and I went to Bangli regency in the east of Bali. We wanted to explore a newly discovered waterfall called Candi Kuning Waterfall. It is quite famous in Instagram, people are talking about it. Our curiosity insisted to find out more about this waterfall.
Named after the Village of Candi Kuning, this waterfall is maintained by the local youth of village. They were very kind, nice and well prepared. They wear Balinese traditional custom and ask every guest to fill the guest log book. The retribution to this waterfall is based on donation. As informed, it’ll take 20 min to reach the waterfall. With camera on hand and impassioned spirit 4 of us hit the pathway down to the waterfall. The scenery along the pathway is so beautiful. The combination of the blue sky, green trees and birds chirp enhanced our adventure spirit. We did enjoy the journey. After we got through the slippery steep stairs we finally arrived at the waterfall.
Candi Kuning waterfall is quite different with the other waterfalls that I’ve seen before. The rock wall seemed so clean and there were no plants covering the waterfalls. Under the waterfall, there’s a pool that would let anyone to enjoy its fresh cold water. Some visitors were enjoying bathing and taking pictures with the waterfall as the background. There was also a group of people picnic in the river bank down the waterfall. Everyone was happy.
The way back to the top is quite challenging. Climbing the stair took times and my friend even broke her sandal. But it all was paid by its beauty! So guys, don’t hesitate to visit Candi Kuning Waterfall!!
Ps: please bring spare clothes, trekking sandal, stick (if needed) and waterproof camera. Your journey would be more fun!
How to get there (from Denpasar):
Drive through Bypass Sanur and take a right turn to Bypass Ida Bagus Mantra.
Take a left turn at Tulikup crossroad and continue straight until you reach Taman Village, approx. 3 km before Bangli City.
You will find a field with big banyan tree at the right side of the road; then turn right.
Follow the main road and take the left turn and you will found rice fields.
In the right side after the rice fields you will find Desa Candi Kuning sign which is also the sign of the waterfall.
Please ask the local if you're confuse. They will kindly help you
Happy wandering!
