Vespa Touring to Lombok and Sumbawa, Indonesia

December is one of my favorite months, where for me it’s a month of celebrations and HOLIDAYS! December marks the end of a year and the beginning of a new year, it’s where people are thanking for the past year and hoping for blessing of the upcoming year.

This December Arifin and I decided to explore Lombok and Sumbawa. Located at Nusa Tenggara Barat province, Lombok and Sumbawa are famous with many attractive tourism destinations. The plan is to touring around Lombok and Sumbawa with Vespa. We prepared all logistics and “weapons” to beat Lombok-Sumbawa’s road and also read some articles on the internet.

After plenty of discussions here are the lists of destinations that we would like to visit:

  • Kenawa Island, Sumbawa

  • Tanjung Saleh, Sumbawa

  • Maluk and Sekongkang, Sumbawa

  • Senaru, North Lombok

  • Pantai Tebing (Cliff Beach) and Bayan Village (Lombok Traditional Village), North Lombok

  • Pink Beach, East Lombok

Safety is always number one when traveling, so here are the things that we prepared before the touring:

  • Make sure our ride is in good condition, checking the machine, tire, oil and the brake as well.

  • As we gonna traveling around the island, we prepare tent, sleeping bag, portable stove, light and instant meal, lighter, flash light, head lamp, GPS, first aid, back up gasoline, raincoat and mat; you’ll be happy to have them once you couldn’t find any place to sleep.

Below are the stuffs that support our happy touring:

  • Snorkeling kit, sunblock, dry bag, wet tissue, tissue, trousers, cotton cloths, jacket, sun glasses, sandal, extra socks and proper shoes.

  • Camera, waterproof camera, tripod or monopod, extra battery for flash light or camera, charger and portable music player/radio.

The most important thing before the touring is to make sure we are in a good condition.

We headed to Lombok on 26th December at 3.30 am after 3.5 hours of queuing to get in to Ferry boat in Padang Bay. FYI, the ferry ticket for motorbike is IDR 125.000,- It took 4 hours to get to Lembar harbor- Lombok from Padang Bay- Bali. We arrived in Lembar at 8.30 am and directly went to Mataram to meet my friend (Eva and Altha) and have shower before heading to Sumbawa.

We invited my friend (Niar and Cody) from Bali to join us to Kenawa island, they will wait us at Pototano Harbor, Sumbawa. Too bad that Eva and Altha couldn’t join us; they have plenty of deadlines to catch up with. (Continue to the next post)
